THE BULLET OR THE BALLOT

Inspired by 'the ballot or the bullet' speech of Malcolm X sometime in the 1960s, this is a piece that paints a picture of the 2019 election event.

         The bullet or the ballot

The Politician, characterized by GREED
Not by the Masses' NEED

Thuggery, bribery and corruption in the Masses, is all We BREED
So blind and ignorant are We, INDEED

For Us was all democracy Our fore-Fathers CRAVE
Sadly today, a phenomenon that kicked Us in the FACE

For has it created a corrupt STATE
And indeed artificial GRAVES

Hate speech in the AIR
Ballot snatching, We see and HEAR

Unfortunate events in the election YEAR

For the Politicians LIE
The Masses CRY

The bullets FLY
Indeed the Innocent DIES

Oh! What a TRIBE

Democracy, with its power in the BALLOT
But an irony, for its power now in the BULLET

Hmm...
Are not Our Politicians political HARLOTS?
Or Noisemakers, like the PARROTS?

A picture of Our election MATTER
The so-called Leaders misuse Their POWER

Hence the bullets FIRE
The People SCATTER

Remaining, are the ballot SNATCHERS
This is a no case in the court, for Their influence bury the MATTER

For  the Deceased and Bereaved, justice comes only in the here-AFTER

As often said, 'fight not fire'
But Mine, a reverse psychology

For do I seek to fight bullet with BULLET
Bullet with KNOWLEDGE

And not with PATIENCE
As patience have long consumed My Siblings since INDEPENDENCE

Indeed is this My MINDSET
For it is 'the bullet or the ballot '.
